EDGE OF PARADISE Biography
Edge Of Paradise was formed by Margarita Monet and Dave Bates in 2011. Few months after formation, the band released their debut album ‘Mask’ that featured rhythm section of bassist Tony Franklin (Blue Murder, The Firm) and drummer Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth Band). ‘Mask’ came at #6 most added on national CMJ radio, right behind Machine Head and solidified existence of Edge Of Paradise. An album chockfull of industrial-tinged metal coupled with soaring vocal hooks, was greatly received by critics and fans worldwide.
Legendary Rock Interviews stated “Once in a while a new band comes along that not only has a unique sound of its’ own but draws upon all the things we love about metal or rock to begin with. Edge of Paradise are one of the best independent bands to come out of L.A. in some time.”
After the release of ‘Mask’, touring numerous states on the West Coast and landing a gig in HI, the group immediately began writing to showcase the bands maturity and define the direction that was pre-empted by “Mask”.
By 2013, the band started working with legendary Michael Wagener on the mix of the new songs and recording with grammy winning producer Bob Kulick (Kiss, Motorhead), ‘Perfect Shade Of Black’ was the result. The EP was made available only via physical release, before the worldwide full-length album release in 2015. The EP received rave reviews, painting a vivid picture of the bands staggering growth, and if public perception is any indicator, the lyric video for one of the songs “Breakaway” quickly reached 200,000 views with the debut on AOL’s “Noisecreep.”

2014 served as a heavy touring year for the band, Edge Of Paradise toured West Coast and East Coast, as well as hitting some states in midwest. And after playing in over 18 states and signing with German based label, Pure Steel Records the band released their second full length studio album. IMMORTAL WALTZ, produced and recorded by the legendary Michael Wagener was released May 2015. Right away the album has started to receive great review from critiques from online and print magazines. Revolver magazine took note of the band and released their music videos for single “In A Dream” and “Rise For The Fallen”. The album was voted album of the week by Revolver’s readers.

MARGARITA MONET – LEAD VOCALS / KEYS
Margarita Monet…born on Feb 1990 is a singer / songwriter, and a pianist. Performing since a very early age, she has made her way from Europe to the United States. Margarita is an accomplished pianist with a vast classical repertoire. She started music lessons at the age of four and quickly accelerated into a competitive and performance ready pianist. She has competed and won awards in numerous piano competitions.
Moving to Houston, she attended high School For The Performing and Visual Arts, for musical theater. After intense training she decided to pursue her career further and moved to New York after getting accepted into New York University’s Tisch School Of The Arts. At NYU she majored in Theater at the Meisner studio and minored in Music. While living in New York, she has acted in Off Broadway plays, independent short and feature films and sang with local bands at the city’s clubs.
Margarita moved to LA in 2010 after getting interest from various acting agencies in LA. A week later after arriving in Hollywood she joined a singing and dancing group and recorded on their album Angels De Amor, after various shows she went solo and started working with producer in LA on her solo album. While working on the songs, she met Dave Bates, who was in search of singer who had the ability to fill Robin McCauley’s shoes. Soon their music partnership created tremendous results and solidified the band that took up the new name, Edge Of Paradise.

DAVE BATES – GUITARIST
Dave is a graduate of Musician’s Institute, GIT, where he studied with Ron Benson (Paul Guilbert’s teacher and one of the M.I. Founders).
Dave’s song “I Come In Peace” was featured on Musician’s Institute/GIT promotional CD entitled “MI JAMS Vol.2”. Dave played guitar in the house band on the set of the Warner Brother’s TV Show “Zoe”, the CBS show “The Whitey Ford Show”, he was also the staff guitarist on the cable show Drum TV.
Dave has toured and recorded with veteran recording artists including Robin McAuley (MSG, Survivor), Mark Boals ( Yngwie Malmsteen, RIng Of Fire), Gregg Bissonette ( David Lee Roth, Ringo Starr, Steve Vai), Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder, Jimmy Page, David Gilmore) Bjorn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony Mcalpine), Brian Beller (Steve Vai). Worked with grammy winning producer Bob Kullick (Kiss, Motorhead, Meatloaf) as well as legendary producer Michael Wagener (Metallica, Ozzy, Dokken, Accept, Poison, Queen…) Dave and Robin shared a band together “Bleed” they toured nationally in support of the groups self-titled release and toured with Robin playing MSG.
Currently, Dave is the guitarist/songwriter for the modern hard rock band Edge of Paradise. Formed by Margarita Monet and Dave Bates earlier in 2011, Edge Of paradise released their debut album “Mask”, that features rhythm section comprised of veteran players, Tony Franklin, Gregg Bissonette and Bjorn Englen. Released September 15/2011, “Mask” came in at #6 most added on national CMJ radio, right behind Machine Head and Five Finger Death Punch. Nick Ericson * BIO
NICK ERICSON – BASSIST
Nick Ericson was born in an old weathered barn just off the shores of a Louisiana swamp. Born with large protruding canine tusks, Nick’s mother died shortly after childbirth due to major complications due to internal puncture wounds and an overdose of flintstones vitamins confused for antibiotics.
Ericson was adopted and raised by wild boars in the swampy lowlands of the American south until he was ten years old when his large canines fell out and were replaced by normal, healthy adult teeth.
Two weeks after his 10th birthday Ericson Joined a traveling group of vagrant mutants playing an empty whiskey jug in a blues based folk band called “The Swamp Rats”
Arnie Mudwaddle, “The Swamp Rats” bass player at the time, immediately took a liking to Ericson and took him under his wing. That was when his musical training really began.
Three years later, when Mudwaddle was killed in a tragic accident when a corn whiskey still exploded on the back of moving tractor, Ericson was the logical choice to take his place as a full member of the band.
After joining “The Swamp Rats” in 1999 Ericson played with them exclusively until he was 19 making many valuable connections in the music industry. Tragically this relationship ended in late 2005 when “The Swamp Rats” singer, Scragglepox, drove his 1969 Coup Deville lovingly nicknamed “The Land Yacht” into a murky leechridden lake in Alabama arguing that “no car that big could possibly sink”. Being the only member who could swim, Ericson was the sole survivor.
For the next 6 years he traveled the country (never outside because he couldn’t get a passport for lack of a birth certificate) performing in many various bands and brothels simply to get by.
In February of 2012 Ericson picked up a side Job remodeling “Office Studios” owned by Brett Chassen and Bob Kulick, and after developing a close friendship with them decided to stay on as their assistant in the studio.
Towards the end of 2012 “Edge of Paradise” came into office studios to record their single “Break Away”. By the beginning of 2013 Ericson was able to convince them to bring him on as bass player based only on his good looks and charming personality. He looks forward to a prosperous future performing with them.
John Chominsky * BIO
JOHN CHOMINSKY — DRUMS
John is originally from New Jersey.
He studied drums at Drummers Collective in New York City as wellas at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Over his 4 year stint at Penn State University, John played live extensively.
John is a big fan of female fronted metal bands such as
In This Moment, Halestorm, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, and Nightwish.
